I have a secret to you guys! I’ve been obsessing over the gym! It’s basically been some me time for months now. I wanted to share with you what you need to have a successful trip in and out of the gym without having someone starring at you for having some hair sticking out of your bun! I just recently received this bag for doing a little extra gym shopping. I wanted to fill it up with all my gym things, and other things that I’ve been thinking about throwing in there. I used to have this old tote bag and it was time for an upgrade!
Your gym bag should be your “bag of gems”, as I like to call it, everything you need to look and be comfortable at the gym. Every gym bag is different and will have your typical must-haves. If you’re not sure what to bring with you, here are some ideas on what to bring.
1. Proper Clothing
First thing, comfortable clothes that pump you up and look great. I usually go to the gym after work and have to pack my things the day before, so I bring my sports bra, a loose or tight fitting shirt, a hat, a pair of leggings, an sweater ( for the cold weather, or running outdoor), a pair of socks, and sneakers. Sometimes I’ll be wearing heels or flats to work so I always have to bring an extra pair of socks with me. There’s nothing worse than taking everything out of your gym bag to notice you forgot a pair of socks or leggings. Make sure your clothes fits and you’re wearing the right under Armour as well because the last thing you need is someone starring at your butt for the wrong reasons 😉
2. Support Shoes
An important asset to bring to the gym are shoes! You have to have the proper shoes, if you’re a lifter or a runner, you might prefer different types of sneakers. Make sure to have the right support for the way you train.
3. Shaker Bottle + Pre/ Post Workout
Pre workout: Labrada
Post Workout: Gold Standard
During my workout, I usually like to bring my shaker bottle with me for any beverage I’m consuming. Whether it is water, a pre- or intra- workout refreshment, I usually have it in my shaker bottle. It’s also great for my post work out protein shakes. In addition, I bring my performance enhancement drink to give me the extra boost in energy I need after a long day of work, to prepare me for the gym. I usually have one scoop of the Labrada and 8 ounces of water 30 minutes before training. After the gym, I usually have my protein shake, some days I’ll just add water, other days I add fruits, nuts, almond milk, all in a blender. Adding different ingredients in my shake also replaces a meal or is a great snack. Plain vanilla protein is perfect for these shakes because they go so well with almost anything. I’ll be
sharing some of my protein shake recipes very soon.
Sweating at the gym is normal, but no one wants to go on a machine after you and find sweat all over the seat. Bring a towel with you to wipe off the seat, equipment and even yourself.
5. Move your body!
Music helps pump you up for the gym, grab a pair of headphones and get jammin! I usually listen to house/ club to get my body really pumping!
6. Hair bands
All women have these little fly-away pieces of hair which is why I like to carry arounda hat, a headband, and a scrunchie.
Please carry around a wet/dry shaver, honestly there are some times where I forget to shave and all I bought were capri leggings to the gym, and I’ll be so embarrassed the entire day. This shaver is such a life saver because I can shave dry right then and there. I usually put this bag in the trunk of my car just in case any other emergencies, for example, forgetting to shave while out with friends! I usually care around deodorant and lotion just in case I have dry legs after work or need some deodorant after my workout.
I forgot to add my locker lock and key in these photos, but it is very important to bring one with you to the gym to lock all of your belongings up! Especially if you keep your phone in there! You can pick one up from Walgreens or your favorite drugstore!
Everyone has their own personal products that they bring to the gym, such as a yoga mat, supplements, a timer or monitor, or a workout log!
Thank you so much for reading!
